CV-Library

A two-year role with CV-Library (CVL), an online job board, where I started as a Junior Web Designer and progressed to Web Designer. The role was split between coding with HTML and CSS and design work creating mockups for clients using Adobe XD. I carried out regular maintenance on the CV-Library website, coded redesigned pages with pixel perfect design translations, worked on internal admin pages including floor plans and the monthly staff newsletter, and developed bespoke products for clients to support their hiring needs.

Premium Profiles

Premium Profiles, a popular product among our clients, allowed them to customise their profile page with their own branding, imagery, media, and text. My job was to design and create these profiles for clients. I would start by mocking up their profile using any assets the client provided, send the proof to their client manager, and then make any requested changes. Once this was done, I would quickly code the design using HTML and CSS and launch it live on the CVL website.

I created profiles for several companies, including:

  • Legal & General
  • Amazon
  • Hilarys
  • Leicester Police
  • Claire's
  • Age UK

B2C Emails

On a day-to-day basis, I would hand-code HTML emails for clients, which were sent out to potential employees. I would begin by taking the provided content and mocking up the email in Adobe XD. Once the client approved the design, the email would be built and then thoroughly tested using Email on Acid to ensure proper rendering across devices and email clients.

Some of the clients I built emails for include:

  • TSB
  • HMP Prison Service
  • Priory Healthcare
  • Pets at Home
  • Next
  • Lidl
  • Border Force

Company Newsletter

A monthly task for me was the curation of the company newsletter where I would have to layout the content to fit the newsletter and source or curate images for each article. When I joined CVL the newsletter was a static non-responsive webpage consisting of two columns not allowing for any layout alternations.

My new design made the newsletter responsive and with articles that could easily be adjusted to be vertical or horizontal allowing the flow of the newsletter to be changeable.

B2B & Other Emails

Whilst at CV-Library I has the opportunity to improve the design of our monthly B2B whitepapers where I took the old design and gave it a more modern feel. Adding imagery and giving the paper a brighter and lighter look.

A second regular email that I would work on was monthly Perkbox round-up which consisted of imagery advertising particular businesses who we could get discounts with whilst shopping. I was tasked with giving the email a refresh, so I removed the garish blue backgrounds, added in white space and larger images to make the email more appealing to our employees.
